Nothing working at all: The first thing you should check when nothing is working is the Breaker or fuse for the "air handler" sense all of the control voltage originates at the air handler if nothing is working most likely the problem will be found there. If fuses are used they will be the cartridge type, and can not be checked visually. they must either be checked with a multi-meter, a ohm meter, or simply be replaced. they are inexpensive and worth the gamble if it saves you a service call. keep in mind that some air handlers have fusses in them in addition to the ones in the electrical panel. There also may be fusses or breakers in the disconnect box for the air handler. if you address all of the areas above and still have no heat then call (757)875-1200 for service.
Aux. light keeps coming on: If you have heat but the temp. never gets as high as you set the thermostat, and the Aux. light keeps coming on, this is an indication that the heat pump is not doing its part and you are heating with electric resistant heat only. first determine if your heat pump (the outside unit) is running. if the unit is running go back in the house and turn the thermostat to the "Emerg. heat " position and call (757)875-1200 for service. if the unit is not running then check your breakers or fuses for the "heat pump" keep in mind that there could be fuses or breakers located in the disconnect beside the heat pump in addition to the ones in the electrical panel. if you don't find the problem there then look at the bottom area of the heat pump where the freon lines go into the unit, see if you can see a small red button about an inch long resembling the nipple on a platex baby bottle. if so push the button in and the unit may start. if the unit starts by pushing this reset button, then most likely you have a problem that will reoccur. the unit may run for a while but something caused the reset button to pop out. make sure the fan on the outside unit is turning after the unit starts with the reset button, if it does not then put the thermostat in the "Emerg. heat" position and call (757)875-1200 for service.
